The first time I came across Neville Goddard was through a YouTube audiobook on one of his many great books, “Feeling is the Secret,” and yes, it completely changed how I approach manifesting.
Neville’s teachings became the foundation of the Law of Attraction for they are so simple yet so deeply transformative.
In this post, you will learn the core Neville Goddard teachings on manifesting and how to apply them in today’s world, not in 1960’s when he actually taught.
It’s also really important to note that His teachings were way ahead of his time and revolutionary to say the least. So Who was Neville?

A brief history of Neville Goddard.
Neville Goddard was born in Barbados in 1905-1972 to British parents.
Some people, including me, consider him to be among the greatest spiritual teachers of the 20th century.
Neville studied mysticism, metaphysics, and esoteric Christianity and passed down his knowledge through lectures and over 10 books.
Neville ushered in the Law of Attraction long before it was referred to as such and established the connection between man and his subconscious mind as well as his feelings.
From a young man who moved to the United States at seventeen to study theater to a revered spiritual teacher whose work has been kept alive for decades, he was a new age thought leader.
What makes Neville Goddard’s teachings very unique is his interpretation of the New Testament scriptures and his unshakable faith in a higher power that manifests through each of us.
A summary of Neville Goddard’s manifestation teachings.
One thing about spiritual teachings is that each person will interpret them and apply them differently, so this is my perspective on his teachings, and I have no doubt that if you read his books or listen to his lectures, you would develop your own POV.
This is a short summary of his core teachings that were the foundation of his work on manifesting abundance derived from his various books and lectures.
Section A: Neville Goddard Foundational teachings on the Law of Attraction.
1. Our consciousness creates our reality.
Neville believed that our 3D reality is just a mirror of our inner state of being (thoughts, beliefs, assumptions).
Our consciousness influences our reality. Come to think of it, you are living as a result of your choices past and present, your thought patterns, and your deep-seeded convictions.
2. “I am” – the creative power within us.
Neville referred to the awareness of a creative being within us as “I am” and whatever we put after I am is a seed we’re planting.
He advised that each time we use “I am this or that…” the focus should be on our desired state of being and not our current reality.
3. Your concept of self must be in alignment.
He taught that although the willpower to change your 3D reality mattered, man cannot outperform his self-concept.
Self-concept is the beliefs that you have about your abilities and value, it’s your naturally programmed state of “this is who I am.”
He also talked of how the concept of self can be reprogrammed, i.e, scarcity to abundance, unworthy to worthy.
Section 2: Abundance as a state of consciousness.
4. The Law of Assumption.
The LoA is one of my favorite principles that Neville taught because it’s very straightforward: basically, whatever you desire, assume is already yours.
It’s yours; it’s only a matter of time before it manifests in the physical realm, but energetically, you must receive it as yours.
5. Living in the end.
Very similar to the Law of Assumption Neville talked about, living in the end,he also referred to it as “a bridge of incidents.”
What this means is that if you live as if you’re already in possession of your desire, then your energy and behavior shift, bridging that space to said desire.
For example, instead of pleading for money and being in this waiting season, you align your energy with the feeling of abundance.
Section 3: The inner mechanics of creation.
6. Feeling is the secret.
Neville understood that emotions are powerful contingents that impress upon the subconscious mind.
Come to think of it have you ever forgotten what transpired in a past event but not how it made you feel?
Yes, that’s the power of emotions that he taught; he firmly believed that we can feel our way to abundance if we hold the feeling for long enough.
8. Imagination as a creative act.
When Neville first began giving his lectures, at the forefront of his teachings was how you can use your imaginative power to impress upon your subconscious and change your circumstances.
Neville encouraged us to exercise our imaginative muscle, especially in the state akin to sleep (SATs) before dosing off, when our subconscious mind is most open to suggestion, or during a meditative state such as prayer.
9. Using gratitude as proof of fulfillment.
Neville loved to give gratitude not only for his current blessings but also for his anticipated wishes that would be fulfilled.
This looks like giving gratitude for your desires before they physically manifest.
First forward years later, gratitude became acknowledged as one of the highest vibrational states of being.
Section 4: Rewriting the past and changing the present and future.
10. Revising the past.
Neville referred to the conscious mind and the subconscious mind as male and female, respectively, or husband and wife.
The conscious thoughts impregnate the subconscious mind thus birthing your current reality.
So, guess what happens when a past event impregnates your subconscious with limiting beliefs?
Neville taught that through repeated imagination we could alter a negative event into a positive experience.
As an example, instead of replaying a job rejection, you could recreate it into a yes, then you can see yourself saying, “Thank you for this opportunity, but I don’t think it aligns with what I want.”
He understood that negative beliefs keep your desires at bay, especially when they crash.
11. Collapsing time.
Neville believed that through feeling and living in the end, we could collapse time from being linear.
Instead of being the person who’s waiting for things to happen, you could live as if it has already transpired.
What I picked from him is that the creation happens in the spiritual realm before our physical realm can catch up, thus, if you can believe it, before holding it, touching, or seeing so it becomes.
Section 5: faith, persistence, and letting go.
12. Faith as loyalty to the unseen.
One thing about Neville Goddard was his staunch and unshakable faith in God, his belief in a higher power that manifests in us through our desires and their creation, enabled him to live in a state of abundance.
Can you have so much faith that you create energetically before you materialize? So much faith that what you desire to bring forth is already done?
Such was what he taught.
13. Persisting until it feels natural.
He taught that one must hold the feeling long enough till our desires materialize.
You must hold that feeling of abundance day in day out, you must become that state.
14. Ease and detachment.
Holding and becoming the state does not mean probing and dissecting the when and how.
He taught that you must let go of manifested desires by assuming you are already that which you desire.
With that knowledge in mind, you must let go of any attachment and become one with your desires.
An example is instead of wondering each day when I will get the spouse I manifested last year, where can I find them, instead go live your life and love every second of it, your spouse will definitely walk in when you least expect it, but if you keep thinking instead of living?
Section 6: The spiritual nature of abundance.
15. Why abundance is your birthright.
Neville believed that we are God, we’re co-creators, and God manifests in us through creating.
We’re blessed with the uncanny ability to bring forth our realities from imagination.
Thus, abundance is your birthright, for our creator is abundant.
He also taught that desire for more is not something to be ashamed of but something to be encouraged and embraced.
16. Blessings and multiplication.
Neville not only encouraged assuming the state of your desire and showing gratitude for your present circumstances.
Most people like to complain, “I am unlovable, I am so broke, duh duh…” But what this does is perpetuate those words as reality.
Instead of focusing on the problem, focus on the solution and what you’re actually blessed with.
Your current financial state may not be the greatest, but you have good health and are surrounded by your loved ones, and you’re working towards the rest.
How you can apply Neville Goddard’s teachings today.
Let us simplify this to how you can practice Neville’s teachings daily without feeling overwhelmed.
Daily practice (15-25 minutes max)
Morning (5–7 min) — “Set the State”
1. One‑line identity claim: “I am the one for whom things work out.”
2. 10‑second imaginal loop: A friend says, “I’m so happy for you!” Feel the relief/joy.
3. Embodied micro‑shift: Ask, “How would I sit/stand/breathe if this were already done?” Adopt that posture.
4. Start your day with gratitude: for the present and that which you are creating.
Micro‑moments (through the day) — “Mental Diet”
When you catch lack‑thoughts, replace them with an inner conversation that implies completion:
Old: “This always goes wrong.”
New: “This is one of those times everything falls into place for me.”
Use environmental anchors: phone lock screen with a one‑line end scene (“Approved,” “Paid,” “Welcome aboard” or your vision board).
Evening (8–10 min) — SATS + Revision
1. SATS (State Akin to Sleep): As you get drowsy, replay your short scene (10–15 seconds) until it feels real.
2. Revision (if needed): Gently re‑script any sting from the day (the call that didn’t come, the awkward moment) until you have a new story.
3. Gratitude as proof: Whisper a simple “Thank you” for the Wonderful day that you had, and also from the state of Assumption that it already is.
Weekly practice.
Identity Audit (10 min, once a week):
List the states you’ve been living in (e.g., “rushed,” “chosen,” “ignored,” “valued”).
Pick one dominant state to grow next week (e.g., “quietly successful”).
Write 3 behaviors that flow naturally from that state (answer emails calmly, decline misaligned work, invest in rest).
Bridge of Incidents Journal:
Note small alignments that appeared “on their own.” This conditions you to trust and stop you from re‑planting doubt.
Examples of intentional visualization.
Money/Work: Glance at a banking app showing your “enough + extra” number, feel the exhale.
Relationships: Hear your partner/friend say, “You’re so easy to love.” Soak in warmth.
Health: Step off a set of stairs breathing easily, your body feeling light and capable.
Creativity: See “Accepted” or “We’d love to publish this” at the top of an email. Feel the bliss.
Lastly Checking in whether you’re in alignment.
By alignment what I mean is are you living in the end or in a state of waiting?
Here’s how you can tell if your’re living in abundance:
- Naturalness: It feels ordinary, not special.
- Less checking: You forget to “look for it” because you feel supplied now.
- Behavior tilts: You speak, spend, and choose like someone who already has it.
- Quieter nervous system: More ease, less frantic fixing.
If these aren’t true yet, don’t force it but gently normalize. Repeat lightly until the life you desire is your new identity.
Common problems people encounter using Neville Goddard techniques and fixes.
1.Forcing high vibrational feelings: you may not always feel sunny and positive so instead of forcing it just assume a neutral state.
2. Over-visualizing: I don’t mean to inhibit your creativity but don’t overcomplicate your visualized scenes clean and crisps is better than “cut” “roll again”.
3. Micromanaging the how and when: it’s hard to accept this but as a micromanaging person myself I can tell you that this is out of your control, it’s actually not your business and only serves to put you in a state of anticipation lack and anxiety.
Think of yourself as energetically in possession of your desire, breathe and stop anticipating “you’re already in possession.”
Or use this useful modern technique I learnt from somewhere where you ask yourself “would I be okay if x didn’t happen?” You won’t die right? That takes of the pressure.
4. Arguing with 3D circumstances: it really doesn’t help that we are visual beings or rather we’ve conditioned to rely on the visual more than the spiritual.
So instead of letting your present circumstances dictate your possibilities just note it down.
Okay I am living in a shabby apartment right now so what? Energetically I am in a dreamy apartment and hold that feeling till it comes to pass.
In the mean time make your shabby apartment in the best way you can.
Bonus: A 7-day starter plan on implementing Neville Goddard teachings.
If you feel a little lost or overwhelmed here’s a done for you seven day plan on manifesting the Neville Goddard way.
- Day 1–2: Choose one desire + craft one 30‑second scene, or alternatively, do a 5-minute manifestation scripting. Morning set‑state + night SATS.
- Day 3–4: Add gentle mental‑diet corrections during the day; start a bridge journal.
- Day 5: Do your first Revision on a sticky memory.
- Day 6: Expand gratitude as proof (name 5 ways you’re already supplied).
- Day 7: Identity audit; choose next week’s state to normalize I.e abundantly healthy.
