Feminine energy hobbies meaning

Feminine energy is a spiritual concept attributed to traits such as: softness, intuition, flow, creativity, empathy, nurturing, mystery, beauty.

So feminine energy hobbies are activities that support these traits as opposed to masculine, adrenaline driven hobbies.

I am not saying you shouldn’t go cold plunging but it won’t calm your nervous system as compared to the hobbies I will list below 👇

How to choose a feminine hobby based on your body’s intuition

I was 21 when I picked up my first feminine energy hobby, crocheting.

I assigned that doomed hook the privilege of giving my life purpose. At this stage, I was broke, unemployed, with no education prospects, and I just needed purpose in a steady sense.

Crocheting taught me what patience in learning a skill meant, acceptance of fruitful fuck up’s, immersion(flow), and an appreciation for the end product even when it sucks😂.

From that moment I have been collecting hobbies like medals but through it all one thing has been consistent.

I pick a hobby based on what my body needs and the season I am in.

What this means is there’s a preferable hobby for when one :

  • Wants to feel soft/held.
  • Wants to feel creative/expressive.
  • Wants to feel sensual/embodied.
  • Wants to feel grounded/peaceful.
  • Wants to feel romantic/inspired.

With that said let’s look at the feminine energy hobbies you will want to give a try across the five categories.

Section A: feminine energy hobbies when you want to feel soft/held

1. Baking/intuitive cooking

I’ve always been jealous of women who can throw it up in the kitchen (can’t 🥹) not only because they get to eat delicious food but also because of the glow and calm they get just from the process.

On this one, I would say don’t knock it till you try it (hey, I did!)

2. Crochet/knitting

Crocheting or knitting has the biggest sense of calm that calls for a cup of tea and a fire show and as each stitch forms you just find yourself relaxing and unwinding.

I highly recommend buying these beginner’s crochet or knitting kits to start off.

Use YouTube tutorials or ask your mum/grandma to show you the basics, bonding+stitching 😌

3. Free-flow journaling

It’s really important to learn how to trust your mind and heart in expressing what you feel and need through journaling.

It doesn’t need to be forced, but whenever you feel a need to explore something on a deeper level, write, and you’ll be in awe of the revelation.

Need a gorgeous journal to begin? Check out my favorite one.

4. Reading poetry/novels

Often than not another person’s words are able to reveal our inner thoughts far better than we can.

Poems and romance novels have held me through the most uncertain times of my life than I would care to admit.

5. Painting/sketching

I love the fact that nowadays you can paint even when you’re not good at it, or vice versa, you can sketch/doodle, take physical classes, or learn through YouTube.

I am especially enchanted by the paint-by-numbers kits that you can take to a picnic or a night in with a glass of wine.

6. Creative writing

Creative writing comes in many forms, such as a novel, memoir, poetry, screenplay, or personal essay.

You don’t have to be a recognized writer to be one😉, undress your creativity and learn her.

7. Music.

There’s an uncanny creative mastery that singers/composers carry, the ability to arouse so much emotion and meaning in minutes.

8. Makeup/fashion as creative expression

There’s a reason as to why most of us can’t stop watching transitions on TikTok, I will be like “damn girl! Is that you?” 😂

The ability to shape shift in personal expression through fashion/makeup/hair is freaking phenomenal.

Obsessed!

Section C: Feminine hobbies to feel sensual/embodied

9. Dancing

Whether you do belly dancing (recommend), hip hop, sexy ass dance in heels classes or free-style earthy movements I can bet that you always feel like a siren afterwards.

If you don’t dance…give it a try, I don’t care whether you have two left legs.

10. Yoga/pilates

Somatic therapy suggests that stress gets stored in the body and we can release it through movement.

Movement such as yoga and pilates will help you to feel embodied in your body.

11. Skincare rituals

You can’t convince me that slowly applying a delicious lotion, caressing your skin, and topping it off with an oil isn’t among the highest forms of self-adoration.

Lean into whichever form of skincare rituals you have, and the everything showers, I am here for them ifykyk!

12. The art of perfumery

Did you know that you can make your own perfume oil blends at home? I make mine and it’s so sensually satisfying to decide how you get to smell like.

Whether you decide to lean towards organic scents through essential oils or manufactured ones you can still get really creative.

To get started, grab this organic perfume-making kit. I promise that it’s easier than it appears. Here’s a list of free, easy recipes.

Section D: Feminine hobbies to help you feel more grounded/peaceful

13. Walking Meditation

Unlike traditional meditation, walking meditation only calls for presence and not blocking off your thoughts.

Leave the pods at home and immerse yourself in your body and surroundings, whatever thoughts you may get observe, that’s it.

This practice will bring about a sense of calm and can be used as a form of decompression, much better if you can find a calm trail/street.

14. Gardening

In somatic therapy (healing the mind through the body and vice versa), it’s believed that interacting with nature, i.e, stepping on soil, calms the nervous system.

Gardening can also be equally grounding.

15. Pottery/clay work.

At this point, you get the pattern: these hobbies that bring about a sense of calm are somewhat connected to Mother Nature.

The easiest way to pick up pottery is by signing up for a local class since it’s a little technical before investing in your own tools.

This one is on my to-do list because I wish to make cute little trinkets.

16. Tea rituals

If you’re not obsessed with tea, we can’t be friends because what do you mean you don’t like tea?

There’s a variety of teas that can be prepared using various techniques, and women stand to gain massive benefits from teas such as raspberry leaf tea, chamomile, matcha, and even Moringa.

In fact you try a new tea each month to sift through the options.

Joy is a choice, and one such way to associate with it is through hobbies that activate your softness.

Not throwing shade at coffee lovers, but tea any day, pick a cosy time where you can repeat this peaceful ritual, maybe even read and thank me later😉

Section E: feminine energy hobbies for when you wish to feel romantic/inspired

17. Creating a mood board

A mood board is a physical/digital projection of a certain aesthetic you wish to or already embody. It could be singular, such as a fashion mood board with outfits you wish to or have already explored, or it could be all-encompassing with various aesthetics displayed, i.e., fitness, fashion, skincare, art, etc.

While vision boards emphasize goal achievement, mood boards are heavy on the aesthetics and feel-good aspect.

Creating a mood board is a sure way to feel fanciful whether digital on Canva or on your scrapbook or the traditional corkboard.

18. Interior styling

Playing around with both big and small decorative elements in your space might be just what you need to reignite the fire.

19. Letter writing

Nothing calls for muse in your life energy than embracing the lost art of letter correspondence, this could be with someone or even just for you.

20. Listening to classical/instrumental music

There’s a subtle nature to the kind of music that isn’t loud, but romantic in nature, this goes for all classical and instrumental. On a calm Sunday afternoon while preparing a meal or just reading.

21. Lastly, learning a romantic language

Learning Spanish/Italian just for the sales of your fancy is mmmmh… I would love to indulge in the former and maybe even find myself an Alejandro but oh well…

Final thoughts

Be bold in experimenting, treat your little hobbies as sacred because that is where your soul unburdens and dances with existence.
